We have started Poetry Bags in our classroom.
Poetry Bags are where students choose a theme (author or subject) and read through the poems in the bag (there are 2 - 5 poems per bag). Students then choose one poem to work on for the week that they will read to the class or to myself.
Poems DO NOT have to be memorized.
Students will be marked on: Expression, Phrasing, Tone, Intonation, Expression, and Fluency. Students have a criteria sheet in their binders.
Tuesday, October 20th is the first Poetry Reading Day. Students are to come prepared to orally read out-loud, from the paper, the poem to the class.
The following week, students will read one to one with myself from a different poetry bag.
