Students will have time in the next 6 weeks, in class, to compose a poetry booklet. As class time is provided, it is student choice whether or not they want to work on the poems outside of class. Some children really enjoy writing poetry and cannot wait to start.
The poetry booklet will have 11 different types of poems.
Some of the poem types are: Haiku, Cinquain, Tanka, Those Eyes, If I Were in Charge of the World, Diamante, Free Verse, Alliteration, Tree Poem, and a few others.
Rough Draft is Due on November 25. This is so that students can re-look, again, at the criteria sheet and get Descriptive Feedback on what is going well and what they might need to change to improve their writing.
